Question about x264 still stands, but I'm done with that.

I don't know about speed but it's the best solution for WMVs I've found and it encodes MP4s better than compressor IMHO.

Episode is for enterprise level facilities who do massive amounts of transcoding. Faster is not always better for transcoding. Episode isn't faster than anything, but its results are better than pretty much anything else, if not equal to its peer products.
