HOW TO UNINSTALL CHV PLUGIN BUNDLE FROM FCPX

More

Tried the CHV Bundle for FCPX and decided not to buy it. I have no idea how to get it out of my system. I removed all the .bundle packages that were installed into my fxplug directory, but the CHV thumbnails still show up in my effects browser under effects, generators and transitions.

Anyone know how to get rid of these? CHV support doesn't respond.

Look for them here:
Macintosh HD / Library / Plug-Ins / FxPlug

I did , Ben, and that is where I removed all the .fxplug.bundle packages that represented the CHV plugins. There must be something else as they still show up in the browser, although they obviously now do not work.

Did you check the motion templates folder inside your home movies folder? Stuff often is found there.

That should do the trick, but if they still show up in your browser: contact Christoph again with my regards. He is a great guy but I'm afraid he's always very busy.

Yes, I did check every folder inside the motion templates. There are no CHV subdirectories whatsoever. I am trying to locate CHV Shining FX (under effects tab), CHV Magic 3D FX and CHV Particles Heaven FX (both under the generators tab).
A spotlight search turned up nothing.
I will try again to contact CHV.
Thanks

Dan,

Maybe a stupid question, but did you close FCP10 before deleting the files?

Yes, Ronny..thanks. I also restarted the computer a few times. Here is a screenshot of what I have removed (I placed them in a temp folder on my desktop) and a screenshot of my effects browser.

Have you deleted the CHV ".pkg.bom" and ".pkg.plist" files in the Receipts folder?
Username > Library > Receipts.

You also should check Boot Drive > Library > Receipts and delete any relevant ".pkg" files.
In Library > Receipts you will also find a "boms" folder with relevant ".bom" files.

I just checked these locations, Ronny based on your suggestions. There are no files of any extension associated with CHV in these locations. I recognize the ones that are there as being current plugins I use.

Bummer! I don't have CHV for FCP10 so I cannot check any of this, I only have these plugins for classic FCP and Motion.

Last thing I can think of is maybe deleting your FCP10 prefs, but I'm not sure if this will do anything to make them disappear from your browser. Or maybe trash the temp folder that's on your desktop to make sure there is no trace of these plugins on your computer anymore?

Well, thanks for all your help so far, Ronny. Nothing seems to remove the thumbnails from the event browser, and I have removed any and all instances of anything CHV I could find from my computer.

I did take your suggestion and emailed again to Christoph and we'll see what he has to say. I will be sure to post back my cure (hopefully if I get one) to this problem.

I think I found it! So goto the root of your startup drive and then:

/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Templates

Looks like this is another version of the "Motion Templates" but for all users on the machine. Very interesting. Might be a way to ensure all users of a machine have all the same effects.

(BTW. I got this by reinstalling the CHV and then using an app called "CleanMyMac" to remove it. )

@tpayton
Thank you so much for looking into this. That definitely solved the problem. I noticed there are quite a few other vendors whose plugins get installed into that location also, such as MBL2, Tonalizer, Coremelt, Irudis and others. Great to know...thanks again !
