Event sharing workflow

Have anyone managed to work several editors on the same "project" at the same time?
I am working on a tvseries, multicam sport with a lot a footage
we are using FCP7
all the footage is located on the SAN drive (fiber) and every episode got a folder with project-files (FCP7)
the assistant starts the file, bundles the clips, sync audio and make structure
when I want to edit, I take the project-file and copy to my local drive, rename it, open and edit, set autosave to local drive
at the end of the day I copy the file to SAN for backup, and to let someone else view my work
sometimes the postproducer pre edit parts for me to put in my timeline, and he makes a new project-file named this and that, puts it on SAN, mails me the filename, I copy the projectfile from SAN, grabs the footage, integrate it to my own projectile and close the file again.
when I'm done with my part, I slim the file down, it goes to the SAN drive, some else grabs it, edit my part in to the finale program, it goes to audio and grade in the same workflow, from the same raw files on SAN, that part runs smooth, but FCP7 sucks…
I want my X to do this, it runs 36 angel multicam like a charm, but I'm not sure how to handle this great flexibility.
one thing is, that when FCPX sees the SAN drive it will show ALL events on 200TB storage, Event Manager X will help on that, but still I think its a bit complicated, and would like to know if anyone got any experience on this matter, or any great ideas for a smooth workflow?
thanks
