Ok guys I have a really annoying issue with some .mp4's that I'm trying to edit in FCPX 10.0.6
Here is the deal...
If I preview or open the .mp4 file in quicktime. The video freezes at about 2:45, but the audio continues to run.
If I preview or run the .mp4 file in MPEG Streamclip or VLC, the file plays normally. No issues.
I tried editing everything in FCPX and the preview and exported .mov file both freeze at 2:45.
I've tried Transcoding to ProRes and the ProRes file freezes video @ 2:45.
I'm not sure what's going on here.
It doesn't do this for all the .mp4 files. This is the first one I'm really having issues with.

Was this file by chance created with Quicktime 6 or 7 and you are trying playback on Quicktime 10.2 ?

I probably can't help there, not sure what codec the file would be. I was getting at the issue with older QT wrapped files not playing correctly under the new QT AV Foundation technology, unless the file is opened and once again re-saved under the Lion or ML OS environment with the new version of Quicktime.

so far all I can think of is saving the file as Prores LT using MPEG streamclip, but the process averages about 13hrs for a 1hr video. I really want to avoid this method.
