I've promised implicitly I won't be starting a 10.0.7 thread for a bit (I think Jan is likely the earliest horizon) but I saw this streaming past twitter and thought it worth mentioning while we're still all high on the current release.

A guy by the name of Michael N Sutton posted,

#FCPX update is pretty badass. Wait till you see whats coming down the pipe in april. #itgetsbetter

No idea who the guy is, or how much credence to give him but it piqued my interest just the same.

I've long stated that I think ONE possibility is that we're heading for a 10.1 release somewhere around the 2nd anniversary of FCPX in June, which could mean a preview at NAB in April if they're prepared to put their head in the lion's mouth again. Which I totally think they SHOULD do-

Actually, a few more updates like 10.0.6 and I think they'll have more supporters than detractors in another 6 months... Every one of these updates is cutting off the detractors at the knees at bit higher up. And that makes me happy.

That almost sounds like a wishful thinker without merit...but who knows?
I'm just enjoying that each update makes FCPX work better, faster and adds decent features.
I was actually pretty satisfied with 10.0.5, but now I have to say. 10.0.6 rocks !

Maybe, but he's specific about a month, which is weird if he's just pining for the future...

I posted half-hoping someone would know who this guy is, and whether he's in any position to know.

I replied to his tweet, but of course I'm not expecting to get much more out of him if he is privy to some info.

The rule is hard and fast; "Any one who says, doesn't know. Any one who knows can't say."

People are just making things up and spreading rumors. No merit to any future release claims at all.

I'd suggest learning all the new features first, before opening a new speculation thread. But that's just me.

Not into rumor mongering but it would make sense that FCP X delivers its knock out blow in April 2013 just before NAB. I'm excited!

Will, I personally do not see any logic to there ever be one, single, "knock out blow" release. I think we'll see things as they've been happening. Next is 10.0.7, .0.8, .0.9, then a 10.1.0, etc. Each will bring a few things at a time.

I'll say this again. If Apple could program 200 new features into an application in 3-6 months, they'd have done it already, and FCP X would be finished now. But that defies how programing works. I've worked for software developers before, programming simply doesn't physically happen that fast, no matter how many programmer are on the team (often too many ruin things).

I'm enjoying what we have, working around the temporary bugs, making money from my clients. I'll be shying away from the speculation threads now. Anyone who claims release dates for FCP is just blowing smoke, IMHO. Y'all enjoy, though.

April means NAB, so if they were to come out with project sharing, the FCPX App Store, or even some of the Web Cam/iMessage-based collaborative editing features mentioned in the recent patent they were awarded, any of those would create a lot of buzz at the show.

Exactly. That combined with Logic Pro X would certainly create some significant 'buzz' at NAB and a great way to get editors that had previously written the program off to have another look at it.

I've been posting like mad how much better the program is now but all my editor friends are saying "yeah that's great but no one uses it. So why should I go to the trouble of learning it?"

"Yeah that's great but no one drives a Ferrari. So why should I go to the trouble of learning to drive a Ferrari?"

In which case your little re-painted Ford Pinto will work just fine.
