Hi guys. Im new here and have very much enjoyed testing out many of the free plugins here.
However I'm looking for something I havn't been able to find yet, maybe you can help.
I'm looking for a pluggin that will let me take a clip and split it up into a defined amount of seperate clips with a defined amount of dropped frames in between the cuts.
For example:
A 20 sec clip split into 1sec clips with every 48frames between clips dropped, leaving you with about an 8sec clip that is jumpy looking.
The effect can be seen in parts of this video:
vimeo.com/23176283
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Cute little video, attractive happy couple, beautiful scenery, lots of fun.
I see the effect you like. It looks as if they took their video & made it into a rapid little slideshow. The best example is him filming her from behind as she walks the sand leaving footprints. (What is it about Brazilians & butts? :woohoo: ) But I digress...
Perhaps this discussion may be of assistance ...

Personally, I'd find it easier to enlarge my clip in the timeline, then choose the selection tool, & just remove some random chunks of the clip. You could adjust their size to ensure the best images that remained were emphasized by the cuts. Music will help set the mood a lot, & with that in mind, you could enlarge your audio track in the timeline, put markers on the beats, & make your cuts match.
The good thing about this Rio vid, is that he doesn't over do it. I think that effect only appears twice, or maybe three times tops.
With that in mind, it's even more reason to do it yourself in the timeline. Sure one of our resident tech geniuses could put something together... if they have the time & disposition, but it will be a random edit generator to drop on a clip. There might be adjustments for how big the chunks are it cuts out, how many cuts in the length of the clip, etc. However, by doing it manually, you will be able to end & begin each mini clip segment with the best shots. I can't see the process taking too long to execute & perhaps spending a little time perfecting the details would produce two added benefits; first, the effect would be superior, fine tuned to the footage & music, & second it would curtail your natural tendency to overuse the effect.

Anyone have any idea of how to get the rounded corners look that appears in the Rio video? I would love to be able to use it in a future project.

I think I read in the comments under the video somewhere that the rounded effect was created from a template which he made in photoshop and then masked it onto the final video - or something

If you want rounded corners you can use my free template in which you can create custom split screen and picture in pictures and more:
