General plugin installation issue

Bit of an odd problem that I haven't read of elsewhere; the exact same plugins that work on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) fail to run on my new MacBook Air (running Lion). Eg, the
4-Way Assymetric Split Screen
is installed as follows:
Home Directory > Movies > Motion Templates > Effects > Camera Effects > 4-Way Assymetric Split Screen
Runs on the iMac, not the Air.
Has anyone run into the same problem or knows of a fix?
