Best Process for working in 2 locations. was created by Scott H.
Hi all!
I have a HD at home that has all of my original media and a duplicate of the home HD at work. I carry my MBP between the 2 and want to be able to edit in both locations. What's the best process for doing this? Please include info on backing up projects - workflow etc. I Hope this makes sense as I am new to FCPX. Love the site so far! Thank you!

I have a similar setup, although I don't carry anything in between.
Since you have the original media in both locations, all you need are 2 files, the currentversion.fcpevent and the currentversion.fcpproject. Just make sure your folders that you put them are are titles the same (assuming you only need one event and one project).
As long as you have the original media, everything else can be reconstructed automatically.
I use google drive to transport the files. When I'm finished at work, I drop the 2 files in my google drive, then replace the old ones at home when I get home.
I back up every time by taking the old copy, modifying the filename to include a date, and putting it somewhere not in the Final Cut Projects or Final Cut Events folder.
It's actually pretty simple.

Thank you so much! Sounds like a good method. I will give it a try.
