Combining Project clips-Problem was created by davidblumenfeld
Hi.
I have been working on a piece that I broke into a couple sections. I edited on into one "project" and a second section in another "project". Now I want to combine the 2, but when I "copy" one project's timeline I get this message:
"You are combining audio and video clips outside the primary storyline. The audio duration will be modified to conform to video frame boundaries"
Any other way to connect the 2 of them, or am I doing something wrong? I guess I don't really understand the "Primary Storyline" stuff...
I should also mention, I began this by working with compound clips that I needed to "break apart" because they were slowing down my machine...I then changed some of the lengths of the compound clips...
Ive read that compound clips, if changed durations, will give this message...(Although they were broken apart...)
Is there a fix for this??
THanks

Your description of problems indicates to me that something else may be wrong with your project. Compound clips should not pose any problems unless perhaps they contain some corrupt media.
In the project that is telling you you are combining clips outside the primary storyline, do you see any video or audio clips that are above or below the main timeline with a shelf bar at the top? These would be secondary story lines. Select them and choose to overwrite them back into the primary story line.
In your main timeline from project 1, highlight the clips (including audio if it is detached) and select copy.
Go to the project library and open your project 2. Place the playhead in the timeline where you want to insert the project 1 and choose paste.
If this doesn't work for you, please post screenshots of the offending projects timeline.
