I'm curious to know what educational institution this was prepared for.
I think that the entire FCP X argument can be best boiled down to one of the things the presenter says at the end.
(I paraphrase) Teachers want to spend their time showing students the craft of editing- not how to import, export, and setup sequences without messing things up.
FCP X certainly does allow for more craft being taught than tech, and I think this is what makes X a winner in the market place long-run.

Yes no doubt for education purposes FCP X wins hands down.
As he stated most big post houses are sitting and waiting and not adopting FCP X.
We may need to wait until this next crop of students hit the workforce.

It's not bad, but unfortunately it kinda gives more ammo to the "X is not for pros" camp. This can be seen in the thread about the same vid over on creative cow. I liked it though...
On an unrelated note, just about to send a couple spots to finish (mix and online) that were cut on X, with all finishing elements created from X as well (using EDL X and the GM of X2Pro 2). I've finished stuff cut on X before, but always had to take it through FC7 to get elements out. I'll let ya know how it works out... FWIW, all the stuff I do is for major studios and ends up on national TV or in theaters. Still cutting on FCP7 as well as X, but if this finish goes smoothly I'll be closer to moving mostly to X...

It's a great presentation. I had to go through the same talks and still was forced to buy CS6, as our college's procurement rules don't allow (yet) for buying from the AppStore.
I took a bit of offense on his steady remarks on the non-integration of Motion. It is integrated, just in a different way.

plysat, I work with several colleges and universities. Most have set up FCP X in classrooms. Most "thought" they couldn't purchase via the App Store. I had them all contact their Apple higher ed rep ASAP, and the reps can handle everything for you. You can make a regular purchase through them, not the app store, for bulk educational licensing, and it goes pretty smoothly.
