AAF import ? was created by toxotis70
I wonder if there is a way (via plugin or something else) to import a project from an Avid Composer .

Project can be saved from Avid as AAF or OMF 1-2 , is there a way to import this project and finish it in FCPX ?

XML, then through "7toX".

Is it avid Media composer or symphony? You might have to send it to media composer first, then export XML and then use the 7toX app to get into FCP X.

OUCH! Seems you're correct, Media Composer has no XML output, only AAF. Geez, that's pretty behind the times, ain't it?

No idea of price, but Avid makes Filmscribe that will do it.
www.avid.com/us/resources/filmscribe

Or AAF into DaVinci, then XML out to FCP?

Yes, you need filmscribe to make an XML.

Hey,

Have you ever had a look at a filmscribe XML????
It has nothing to do with any kind of XML any version of FCP(x) understands.

So the way thru DaVinci or AutomaticDuck is the only way.

film scribe makes a FCP 7 XML so you also need the 7toX program to convert the XML for FCP X as was discussed earlier in the thread. I haven't tried the Davinci method, that might work too, Automatic doesn't work with FCP X 10.0.5.

Here is a sample of the FilmScribe XML (posted by Avid on July 2, 2010 2:50:18 PM)
www.avid.com/static/resources/documents/...NE%2076_assemble.xml

So maybe things changed since that time, but that one has nothing in common with a FCP XML.

With AutoDuck you can go to FCP and use 7toX to get into FCPX.

Sorry, Andreas is right you need to use Automatic Duck's
Pro Import FCP 2.0 to get your AAF in to FCP 7 and then use 7toX. Or go the Davinci route.

Filmscribe, then use 7toX, will work.

Automatic doesn't work with FCP X 10.0.5.

Hi Ben,

Could you explain how it would work with FilmScribe. It would be interesting to see what I've missed. For sure will be interesting for others as well.

Filmscribe does XML that FCP 7 recognizes. 7toX makes that XML into FCPXML that FCP X recognizes. What doesn't work here? I mean, if you're using FCP X 10.0.5 Automatic Duck simply won't work for you.
