You can't if you don't have the folder structure that contains the metadata needed by FCP. If you don't have that you can use ClipWrap to rewrap the files to QuickTime.

Or this one for free.

media-converter.sourceforge.net/index.html

I used it two nights ago to re-wrap/transcode to an extent about 40 gig worth of .mts files from a Sony NEX 5 I believe, (my second shooters cam). Very unscientific by the seat of my pants and eye review of the resulting footage seemed to be very nice after inputing several of the same clips into Adobe Media Encoder and a couple other transcode software...It all seemed to look great.

You will need to go to the developers site to get the preset for what you want though. the re wrap for mts to Quicktime with audio...there is one for No audio!!! This can batch convert/rewrap as well... Start off by selecting a destination folder then ou can highlight all of your clips and drag and drop them into the interface.... Pretty fast as well...so it seems anyways.

Otherwise as stated... Tom is spot on as always.

Do not convert Long-GOP codecs to other Long-GOP codecs, you'll lose a generation of quality quickly. Convert to ProRes. Use ClipWrap as Tom says.

Or use this :

rarevision.com/5dtorgb/

for single files

Or this:

itunes.apple.com/us/app/5dtorgb-batch/id464591025?mt=12#

for batch transcoding.
