Closing the loop

Closing the loop was created by Bucket
I have created a video, edited it...the whole thing, but there is one more loop I have to close before I am fully "in house" and that is the menu. How are you guys doing the menu these days, what program? Where can I get Pro Studio 4 new or used or is there a better way? I'm usually pretty good at tracking down info but this one seems to keep ending up in a dead end. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

What menu? What are you talking about? A DVD? What's Pro Studio 4?

You'd have to get full FCS 3 package from somewhere on eBay. Otherwise, there's Roxio Toast or encore (also part of a package).
You still got iDVD?

I do still have IDVD and I have played with it a bit but I don't like templates, I would prefer to create a menu from scratch than having to stay with preset designs, because most of my video's are not about modern subjects, so a newer style rotating cutting edge style menu doesn't fit my projects, and you have roughly 20 choices with IDVD I will admit they were very good templates, I was impressed but wanted more freedom, so yesterday I finally caved and took my video in to have it authored. I want to close the loop though, and it seems that studio 4 could have done that for me...alas I am too late and it's no longer an option, I just wish FCPX had something to work with. It just doesn't make sense that FCPX will take you 95% of the way to completion then drop you off like a hot potato.

Then your only chance is to look for FCS3 on ebay, or to get Encore via Adobe Premiere (oh, the heresy!).
I doubt that Apple will ever come out with a new DVD authoring software, but will rather leave this issue with third parties.

I have the entire Adobe suite including encore cs5, but I am just now getting proficient at FCPX so to have to switch over to a whole new setup would be tough but if I can't close the loop here I will start working with adobe and leave the FCPX. If adobe encore can author my video's then that's where I gotta go, I would just as soon stay with what I'm used to but now that you mention it I will pull up my adobe and give it a second look and see if it will author...freestyle! and if it does I will switch over and start practicing. Hey thanks a bunch for reminding me about adobe cgbier!!! In my panicked search for something apple I had forgotten how good oranges really taste.

Yes, you can create menus from scratch for Encore, either with Photoshop or After
Effects. There are tutorials for that on Video-Copilot.
I like Premiere CS6 a lot, compared to the mess the older versions have been. In fact, I think it is what people would have expected FCP8 to be****. However, once you are used to cut with FCP X, it is hard to get back to the old ways. The X workflow really spoils you.
*** I don't know if these are rumors or if there is any face value to the stories, but it is said that Adobe has hired a whole lot of Apple engineers to work on Premiere. Looking at new, clean GUI, on can see the Apple handwriting behind it.

Well cgbier, I will have about 4 months to ponder my next move before filming again and I think I might make the switch starting with some short youtube video's just to get used to it, I noticed tonight while researching this that you can get Adobe on the "Creative Cloud" that might be an option too or I can upgrade to CS6, but I gotta thank you again for atleast throwing out a forgotten option that I might just go with...Thanks buddy!!

It never hurts to be multilingual.
I'm employed in edumacation, so I got the Master Suite dirt cheap. The cloud wouldn't pay off for me, and if you only need the video portion, but not the rest, it is even more expensive.
Where the cloud shines, IMHO, is for short term rental, when you only need it for a project or two.
