I think you mean Porsche, and besides they have child's car for sale. They are pretty cool, well cooler then Avid. :woohoo:Colinstone213 wrote: Porshe would be regarded if they stopped making sports cars and started making child's big wheels...

Lol not trying to troll... And i love Final Cut. I just finished cutting an independent were going to screen for Sundance this week on FCP7, but the general consensus among my industry colleagues is that FCPX was a mis step in serving the pro market. If you think im hateful you should read the scathing review in Editors Guild magazine. Im sure FCPX is good for many different workflows but in my experience as well as my colleagues is that it isn't conducive for a large percentage of Professional workflows... I've used final cut since version 1 when I was 10 years old. If I could have my way I would use FCP7 on every project but AVID is catering to Professionals while it seems FCP is starting to cater the Pro-Summer market. It makes me sick but if it keeps heading in that direction I may be forced to cross over. Something I've been resisting for sometime... Im not a hater but i speak about what I see and weigh no emotions in that consideration just experience.

As a trainer and consultant who's worked with major cable networks, universities, and government agencies for more years than I can count, I have to very much disagree with you.
First, I read the article you refer to, and it's way off base. The author shows a huge lack of knowledge. I know features here in Louisiana (third largest film market in the country) being on on X now. I know broadcast stations adopting it.
Yes, there is a very tiny portion of the market, and it tends to be the upper end, not everyone up there, but a part of them, who will be resistant to change, and are very short sighted. Yes, the market you refer to is a tiny drop in the bucket of the entire industry now, that's a simple fact.
I really feel you don't see the big picture, and you're understandably calling the "large percentage of Professional workflows" what you've seen in your local area. Most people make that mistake, unknowingly. But I have a LOT of folks lining me up who are more than interested in getting FCP X into a workflow for them, as it saves tons of time, is easier to learn, and handles most assistant editor/intern work on it's own. And I work with people on a national level.
Define "Professional workflow", please.
And why Avid? PPro is overtaking Avid as we speak (because it's basically FCP Jr). PPro said they're growth increased by 47 percent in the past 12 months, and put spin on that claiming a lot of that was FCP users going to PPro in a 2 month span (very hard to believe logically). But let's take a look. They had roughly 18 percent of the market, Avid had 16 percent (as of NAB Show 2011), FCP had 54 percent. So PPro grew 47 percent of 18 percent. Honestly, that's not much at all, they still trail behind FCP by a great deal. Avid hasn't said a word about anything.
There are TONS of professionals who are sticking with FCP, and intelligently allowing FCP X to grow before making rash decisions. The 10.0.2 release recently proves FCP X will be as professional and able to handle professional work as well as anything, an much easier and much faster, in fact. So some article written the first week it was out, itself, is out of date now.
Learn it, it's faster, easier, and smarter than anything on the market today. And if you listen to what a few select industry leaders who've been allowed peaks into the next release of Avid and PPro (under NDA), it sounds like those two are following Apple's lead.
But, define for me exactly how FCP X can't handle a "professional workflow", and exactly what a "professional workflow" is?

I was training folks here in Edinburgh on Avid systems (and constantly nursing hardware and connection) when FCP v1 made an appearance and we were blown away with the arrival of the great democratiser. I feel old when I read that you were ten;)
I agree that getting the job done is where it's at and in terms of speed FCPX is doing the job. I'm afraid that wild horses wouldn't tempt me to go back to AVID, fool me once, yadda yadda? Peace
