OK...as usual guinea pig Johnston wades in with both feet to discover...
After changing my project to 1080 50p in FCP 10...I insert the SDHC card from my NX70 recorded at 1080 50p and ...nothing.
Secondly I insert the FS100 footage at 1080 50p and nothing...!
I does tell me that it will accept AVCHD at 1080 50p but so far I have not been able to ingest any 1080 50p footage.
I have been able to look at 720p footage and as I expected a wee bit too close to iMovie for my liking.
I am downloading Ripple Trainings iPad tutorial to see the correct way of doing things just in case I am missing something obvious.

Even though it was said to handle most things at any framerate?
