FCPX and Resolve 9 in a 3.1 Mac Pro was created by kozi006
Which graphic card or combination of cards, do you think is the best for running FCP X and Resolve in a 3.1 Mac Pro.
NVIDIA GTX 570
GTX 285 2GB & GT120
Nvidia GTX 470 & GT120
or something else ?
Thanks

Problem is Resolve wants CUDA, FCP wants OpenGL, few cards support both equally. For FCP X the ATI Radeon HD 5870 is about the best. I just put on in my 2008 Mac Pro.
Resolve, the Quadro is really great for that.
No clue about the cards you have listed. I'm probably not much help there.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if the quadro 4000 will work with fcp x so well as the 5870 ?

Quadro 4000 is CUDA and would be good for Resolve. Install it as your secondary card.
The 5870 is great for FCP X, and should be installed as the primary card (with the main monitor connected).

Personnaly, I run a Radeon HD 5870 in the slot 1 and a Quadro 4000 in the slot 2. As the 5870 card has two electric connectors, I has connect it with a Y spliter. All working nice and I have a Mac Pro 3,1 with a DeckLink extreme 2, 24 Gig of RAM and 5 internal hard disk.
