Mask in FCPX was created by Captain Hook
Hello,
i´m coming from Avid after 13 yrs. now it´s time to try something new , so i´m fairly new to FCPX an i think i like it so far.

My only Question for the Day:
is it possible to build a moving mask in FCPX, for those who are familiar with, like the Animatte in Avid?

Text on V1, Clip with a Person on V2, Person on V2 is Masked , the mask will follow the Person, we will see the Person in front of the Titeltext?
thanks in advance

This can be done much more easily in Motion. For $49 it's really an essential part of FCP X.

There is a limitation in the current version of Final Cut Pro X that means that you cannot animate individual points of a mask shape.

I've made a set of effects that can help. You can set up to 16 points on a mask and then animate the shape of the overall mask using transform and perspective controls.

You can download them for free from
