Since DVD Studio Pro 4 seems to be defunct with Mountain Lion, how can I author a DVD with an interactive menu after editing with FCPX?

If you have DVD Studio Pro you can still use it. There's also iDVD or Roxio Toast or Adobe Encore.

Many thanks for your reply. I must admit I hadn't tried DVDSP with Mountain Lion although I understand it is not compatible with the processors used - Intel 2.8GHz Quad-Core i7.

Where did you see that? I haven't tested it all, but the app seem to work perfectly well.

Thanks again. I can but try. I know enough to be dangerous! I'm always reluctant to install software in case I muck something else up. Really appreciate your help. John.

Hi Tom, I'm coming back to you because I tried loading DVD Studio Pro 4 into my new iMac but without success. Message came up saying that the system no longer supports software for PowerMacs. So, I'm back to square one. I have looked at Encore but it seems to be part of a package and is pricey. Another thing I need help with and can't get it to work as it should. In iMovie you could make a still from any frame. I understand this is possible in FCPX. Also, another thing I liked in iMovie was the way you could work with photos using the Ken Anderson effect. I use a lot of pics in with movie clips and if you use the KA effect, you could then split the clip and by using 'crop', you could get a still before the 'zoom' or 'pan'. It was quite effective. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that in FCPX - the 'crop' starts with the whole frame. Shame! For what I do, I'm beginning to think that iMovie was quite adequate. Sorry I have included other themes in this reply. Have a good weekend and thanks. John.

Hi Tom, Forgot to say that iDVD is not included in the software any more either. I tried loading iDVD from my iLife 11 disc but it told me that the 'Authorisation Certificate' ran out on 25 March. I only bought it last year! What is that all about? Kind regards. John.

In FCP you can animate the middle crop function with keyframes to produce the Ken Burns effect you want.

There is also Roxio Toast.

I don't know what an authorization certificate is. You should contact Apple about this.
