What do expect us to say? Of course it has to be FCP X! I've cut several music videos and it kills 7 dead.

thanks, is there a way on fcpx that you can multi track, as when you cut the the clip it drops down or floats which makes it quite hard to edit on a 13inch macbook, and also is there a way of making fcpx run faster as it always seems to crash.

First off a 13" MacBook isn't exactly the ideal platform for editing video. How much ram does it have?
Second. I assume your music track is your primary storyline which for music video is mostly the best way to go. This means however that all your video clips attach to the audio track as connected clips.
The solution is to create a secondary storyline. Then you'll be able to juggle clips around without them moving up or down on you limited screen real estate.

If you want to have the video files work inside one layer than select a few and use the command create storyline or something like that. Sorry for being vague but I'm currenty in FCP 7 hell.
