Using movs in Motion/FCPX effects was created by maschinsky
Hi, all!
I was trying to create a "Filter" in Motion 5 for use in FCPX. The idea was to make a "old film" effect, so I mad a vignette, border defocus, randomized Y motion and defocussing, flickering light - the whole shabang - and it looked great. Finally I composed a Quicktime .mov of actual 35mm telecined film scratches and dust over the image via multiply.
When I use the effect on a clip in FCPX that is longer that the duration of the effect-template I created in Motion, FCPX "stretches" the effect temporarily, meaning my clip with the scratches and dust-particles plays back slower.
Is there a possibility of having Motion or FCPX loop the .mov contained in the effect for the duration needed insted of time-stretching it?
Thanks for any thoughts
Florian

I think this retiming issue is fixed in the 10.0.1 update

No it has not been resolved. I tried changing the timing properties of the .mov in Motion to for example "loop" or "ping-pong", but doesn't change anything.

Zip it up and post it, I'd like to take a look at it.

Is this a Generator or an Effect?

maschinsky:
You have to add a "Project Loop End" marker at the last frame of your Effect Template Motion Project. In Motion, just place the playhead at the last frame, deselect everything, add a marker and then edit it into a "Project Loop End" type. Now, your movie should not change speed as the effect is applied to longer or shorter movies in FCP X.
See if this solves the issue.
