Should Apple launch a version of FCPX with iCloud, what form of integration do you think we will see and do you reckon this will reduce your reliance on other forms of web-based hosting for video such as Vimeo?

I don't think Apple should step into the hosting business. We already have a saturated and good platform out there.
But it would be cool if Apple released a form of a online sharing solution like iCloud but with more control for the user. I could see something and welcome the possibility to have your Project files and Proxy files loaded up on a online solution (something we are doing already today with Dropbox). Also there is Axle on the way in.

Yeah, I think initially we will see the ability to share projects and proxy media like you say so that an edit can take place theoretically anywhere.
I wouldn't perceive adding iCloud integration to FCPX as an attempt by Apple to step into the hosting game though. At Iron Box Films we make movies. Sometimes we have terabytes of dailies (before compression). Presently Vimeo, despite it's excellent player and abilities to create albums and playlists, lacks an adequate video manager. Deleting a couple of hundred videos on Vimeo is a ball-ache as you have to go through them one at a time.
We use Light Iron's To Dailies on set to distribute H.264s to the various iPads etc, FCPX could make this process far more streamlined and elegant.
Who knows if and when iCloud integration will even happen. I'm confident it will and what form it will take I find very interesting. Ps, if Axle interests you, you should really take a look at Aframe. We used it for a while and am very seriously considering returning to the platform. www.aframe.com shots all over Axle from what I can see.
