Im having trouble adding a transition to one clip in a split screen. I have 3 clips playing and i want to add a transition but only to one of the clips in the corner however when i add a transition to the clip the transition sweeps across all 3 clips ?

How are you creating the split screen? A screenshot of the clip(s) in the timeline would also help.

Probably the simplest way to do this is to not bother with the split screen in the beginning and just get the 2 clips cut them how you want with the timing you want, and export this as a prores clip. Then import the prores clip with the rendered transition and drop this into your split screen set up. Easy.

Should work just fine as you're doing it in the Timeline. A screen shot of the Timeline would help, though. What you're experiencing is not normal behavior, nor a bug I know of.
Are you using compound clips or a template to do the split screen with?
