Where are the female FCPX users?

Much as I enjoy the information and banter on this site, there is a faint whiff of locker room about it. Traditionally, editing began as a female occupation in Hollywood and I've always seen a fairly even ratio between male/female editors (in the UK). I'm surprised there don't seem to be any female members on the site. Maybe what's needed is an active female representative like Larry Jordan/Steve Martin/etc.

Just opening up a (civilised) debate.

I'd have to admit that, once you get a bunch of blokes obsessing about minor details and occasionally applying the rules of Playground Politics, the 'whiff of locker room' is enough to put off most sane, rational people.

The female photographers I know do not obsess about kit or technique and spend time making beautiful photos (with, I note and head hung in shame, their Nikon D200s). The female editors I know are happily cutting films (on FCP 5 or 6 in many cases) on adequate hardware. Ahem, not that I'm taking note or anything.

They all have enriched and fulfilling lives that they don't want to waste by hunching over a computer after the work day is done, and arguing the toss over codecs into the wee small hours. They prefer to 'get a life', an attitude that I, as a Geek, find totally unexplainable.

PS: Try contributing to MumsNet or the Omlet (pet chicken) forum... Not sayin' lack of a Y chromasone denies access to internet forums, just that there does seem to be a difference on what the sexes obsess about.

Females are creatures of habit and not usually interested in technology.
One of Australia's most famous editors Jill Billcock still cuts on Lightworks!

Females are smart, they come get the free effects and go about their day. While we gents ponder the use of masks, lens flares and the like............either that or the locker room thing.....Hahahahaa :P

At the bottom of this excellent tutorial there's a pic of a younger Ben, which should certainly attract some women round here... or at least some more lively locker room towel flicking.

That's a current photo, buddy. The photographer made me wear a dress shirt (ugh) and, well, "bath" (yuck).

LOL. Ass kicking aside, the banter is what keeps me coming back!!
I PM'ed a girl on here because of a mutual friend it looked like we had from NYC, as it turned out the dude was still logged onto his girlfriends Facebook account by accident.

How well are you coming along with LightWorks?

I had a demo at the last IBC (going to check it out again this year) it really looked cool and the project sharing is definitely the best I have seen that works!

I work part-time in secondary level education and the media department are having to move from mac based systems to PC's. So I spent a few months looking at cost effective solutions to intro students to the basics and allow the more able to really get some serious work done. Lightworks ticks all the boxes. In use it is proving very stable and students find the interface pleasant and fast to work with.
