how do I add a banner to video? was created by outkast27
Hello. Im new to FCPX. I have a magazines banner that I would like to incorporate into my video . Im have no clue how to add it. Do I need to use motion 5 to do so? Can it be done without motion 5?
Attached is the banner. I would like it on the bottom of my video, Slide or fade in then out of the video at a certain time. Thank you for any help.

You import the banner into your FCP event. You place it in the project on top of the video. You keyframe the transform function to animate the banner.

Simply import it into an Event in FCP X. Drop it into the Timeline as a connected clip. Position and set duration where you want it to be in the Timeline.
With it selected in the Timeline, go to the Inspector, in the Video tab, you can move it with the Position X and Y parameters, and scale it.
Or, you can select it in the Timeline, click the Transform tool button at the bottom left of the Canvas window (looks like a square with buttons on each corner). Then you can resize it and move it around inside the Canvas window directly. Click the "Done" button at the top right of the Canvas when you're satisfied.
You may want to do a video course on FCP X to learn all of the tools correctly right off the bat.

Perfect! I was over thinking that one. Also, Im adding a text to show on the video. I dont see where to type in what I want it to say. I skimmed the above linked tutorial and don't see where it mentions how type what I want to type. As of now its the default "name description" text. Thanks so much fellas!

Double click the text in the viewer and change the words.

You don't need to be in full screen mode.
In many title you can also edit the text in the text inspector, but it depends on exactly which title you're using.

Ok, new issue. One vid clip I added has the audio cutting out. The original vid clip file does not cut out at all. Ive tried deleting from time line and re importing and it worked fine. I exported and uploaded to youtube and the audio is cutting out only one one certain clip. Any suggestions?

.mp4 should never be used in FCP. It is not a supported framework. The media needs to be converted to QuickTime.

OK. This will be the last question to finish up the topic here. How do I convert to quicktime? I thought quicktime was mp4 format?

If the file extension is .mp4 it's not QuickTime. You can use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to convert it.
