GoPro Workflow w/ FCPX

GoPro Workflow w/ FCPX was created by Taylor
I am working with a lot of GoPro footage and my workflow has been to cut it up using GoPro's Free CineForm Studio and then bring it into FCPX. The GoPro shoots MP4 files. When I cut with the CineForm Studio, it automatically converts anything that is cut into .MOV files. This is great for anything that I am definitely going to edit in FCPX because it won't have to transcode. However, I have plenty of footage that I want to cut up and keep with no intention of ever brining it into FCPX. Anyone with a GoPro knows that you can pile up hours of footage waiting for that one killer moment where you catch the perfect action sequence of whatever you are shooting. Because of this, I have hours of footage that I want to ditch (hence the need to cut) but I want to keep it in MP4 format because it takes up far less storage space when compared to .MOV. If I decide to bring the smaller clips into FCPX, I would rather have it do the transcoding anyway (as opposed to GoPro's free software).
My questions:
-Does anyone know of a good MP4 cutter that will allow me to cut without transcoding?
-Is there a way to cut in FCPX without transcoding?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this-- and for those of you who respond, I REALLY appreciate your help!

Have you tried selecting the desired range in the Camera Import dialog? This would solve your problem with transcoding because it would only wrap and import the selected range.

Thank you for your quick response! Your suggestion would work, but it still leaves me with .mov as opposed to mp4 (which are much smaller files). I am hoping for a solution that leaves my cut up footage in mp4. I know I am being picky-- I am just hoping that someone has a recommendation of a great piece of OS X cutting software. An app that just cuts-- and cuts well!
Thank you again for your response. I really appreciate it!

Don't Optimize Media on import. This way it remains in the native format within the .mow (container) file.

Fantastic! I did not realize I could turn that off. Now that you say it, I think I remember that setting. Thank you so much! I really appreciate everyone's help!
