I have a 1080i video that I've imported to FCPX. First question is what does it do to the video if I change the property of the Project file to 1080p?

When I export to compressor for an SD video I'm exporting using Apple Pro Rex HQ and then importing it into Encore to build the DVD menus. Encore then has to transcode. Is this the right procedures for moving from 1080i to SD DVD?

Thanks!

Exporting as ProRes HQ is a waste of disk space and encoding time. Just use ProRes 422. The HQ is not adding any quality to anything.

SD is interlace anyway, so leave it as interlaced footage.

You could drop it into an SD Project timeline and export it as ProRes.

You could send it to Compressor and make it SD there.

Or just let Encore convert it to SD.

They all work.
