I've been reading in the forums here about the performance gains when turning off Background Rendering in FCPX Preferences. Related to performance improvements I would suggest that if you're using a Macbook Pro and have a/an external monitor(s) attached that before doing the Share, detach the monitors and share with just the MBP screen active. Presumably this is freeing up valuable GPU cycles and RAM to dedicate to the rendering process.
I've never really thought about this before now, but reading about performance hints and tweaks made me realize that I'd noticed a difference in performance with/without external monitors. I suppose I should have done a sample comparison test before posting this, but I didn't :silly:

Yes this can be true... I know when having a workstation or laptop with two display it will cut your performance in RAM and GPU in have for each monitor.
Benefit for dual graphic cards rises again for a Mac Pro.

Yes, GPUs automatically split their resources between multiple monitors when you plug more than one in. The main monitor is the one who's allocated resources are used by apps. The rest that are allocated to secondary monitors are untouchable for the most part.

Hello..
If your Apple MacBook Pro has two built-in video cards, you can switch between the video cards to change the graphics on Mac OS X. Choose the graphics card you want to use depending on the situation.
