Share is greyed out was created by youngeddie
I'm trying to export a small movie, but "Share" is greyed out, along with everything in the Share menu.
Why is this happening?
Please help!
Thanks, Eddie

This is usually caused by a software conflict, often with MacKeeper. One solution the seems to work is to reinstall FCP.

It's a program that cleans up cache and unneeded files.
I'm going to uninstall it... I think it's trouble.
Talk soon, Eddie

I've been called to bail out half a dozen clients and students who had major problems with MacKeeper, including lost data. Get rid of it, it's useless and dangerous.

Thanks Ben,
I should've removed Mackeeper a long time ago.
I can no longer open FCP 7. I was told by Apple that MacKeeper might be the culprit.

I wish someone would make that piece of garbage software illegal. I've seen so many nightmares caused by it. And what it claims to do is 100% unnecessary and useless on a Mac. I've seen it trash whole system drives with no way to recover data at all. I freakin' hate it.
Once you remove it from your system, will FCP 7 open then? If now, what happens when you try?

I've spent days and days trying to get Final Cut Pro 7 to open. I've talked with the nice people at Apple several times and still no positive results. My Final Cut Pro 7 program is an upgrade since I've been purchasing it since version 3, so I can't install the older version of the program on a pre-Intel machine to make the upgrade work.
I've got projects in FCP 7 that I need to get to, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it.
If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
Thanks!! Eddie

Run the installer off of your update DVDs. You will have an option to enter the previous version's serial number. Or it will see FCP there already and just run. No need to touch the older version installer at all.

I'll try again. I did the same thing that you just suggested, but I must have missed something.

Are you talking FCP7 or FCPX here. If FCPX, it's to do with missing media. Try this (taken from
discussions.apple.com/message/15639786#15639786
:
Select the entire media in Events, go to File > Import > Reimport from camera/archive then let FCPX do its thing. I realised that if the media clips aren't properly imported, this option would be available. For those that are imported properly, "reimport from camera/archive" would be greyed out. Hope this helps.
