Music Video made in FCPX

Hey guys,
check this out. This weekend we released the music video 'I Wonder' for the Dutch band Juicy Jones. Might be interesting for you guys to see as it is almost exclusively made in FCPX. Only a few shots were composed with After Effects (masking out certain portions of the shot), but most of it came out of FCPX.

The build-in keyer, color correction and mostly the incredible depth using Compound Clips (I sometimes had 4 layers of compound clips within one another) were amazing to use for this project.

Also the quick workflow where I literally filmed the guys in front of the green screen and two minutes later could show them a roughly composed shot, giving us the chance to experiment and adjust continuously.

Simply put, FCPX was a joy to use, even though it could get really choppy with all those layers (iMac i7, 512 mb. video & 16 gb. ram) and would occasionally crash (which cost me no more than a short minute to restart the program, without loss of progress thankfully), all in all it was so much nicer to use than FCP7 (which I used for a first version of the video).

So yeah, maybe this is a cool demonstration of FCPX for use in visually more complex productions; check it out:

Very cool. Nice work! Too bad you didn't use Motion instead of AE, and made it totally a Final Cut project.

We use an HPX170 for our green screen work, connected via FW to a MBP, running Vee Scope, to make sure our talent lines up with our backgrounds properly, and to make sure our green screen is lit and keyed properly. Helps do everything before you ever reach an NLE. I highly recommend it.
