QuickTime 7 RIP?

QuickTime 7 RIP? was created by VidGreg
With Mountain Lion due out any moment, time to look at QuickTimePro.
QT7Pro still has many capabilities that are missing in QTX therefore people still use it and scorn QTX.
ML is strictly 64bit programming, no 32bit allowed. QT7 is 32bit while QTX is 64 bit.
Is this the end of QT7Pro for OS upgrades?
Apple needs to do a major update on QTX, but so far I haven't heard this is happening, has anyone?
QT has a very rocky history, upgrading not always hassle free. Releases have not always followed FCP which can screw up your Pro registration. Owning FCPX does not get you QT7Pro like all the previous versions of FCP.
Rest In Peace, QT7Pro.

Tom,
Thought no 32 bit programs.
QT7 has been working through a QTkit hack for 64 bit use.
Am I wrong?
Assume you using ML dev release, GM?
GM supposed to be same as ML retail so if you are able to use QT7 with GM, this means either QT7 got rewritten, or somehow QTkit able to bypass 64 bit restriction.

Quite a few 32-bit apps still work. Compressor 4 is one.

As Tom says, ML will in fact run 32-bit apps quite well. See my post here that explains it.
www.fcp.co/forum/2-off-topic/12029-mount...-32-bit-applications
And in Lion, QT 7 no longer has a System Preference, so it will run. Remember that with the launch of Lion, QT 7 had some significant, though little known, changes to it so it would be ML compatible.

Good to know.
Yep, I was wrong about 32bit programs not running.
It is only those programs that require a 32bit kernel (32bit kexts) that won't make the cut.
As for QT7, I am pleasantly surprised that it still runs given it age. It was (is) 32bit and I believe used to have kernel extensions for video?. Was written in Carbon and has been hacked vs rewritten from ground up for some time.
Still wish Apple would seriously update QTX. Not sure what ML adds to it. Would be nice if QTX was truly Pro. Any good news on this front?
Some other programs will need to be updated.

QT X in ML only has one minor change. Export To Web is now Export To, which lists iTunes, Web, iMovie. And there's the Share menu is moved to the File menu.
QT 7 functions just fine in ML!
