Not enough information. Where's the clip? Browser or timeline? Batch export individual clips or a sequence? How many clips is a group, two or 20?
You can export an individual clip by right-clicking it and using open in timeline, and export from there. If the clips are in the browser and you want to export a group of clips as a sequence, you can open a clip in the timeline and add the other clips to it before exporting. There is no batch export function.

I would like to be able to highlight a group of clips or pictures on the time line and render them out to a single clip. this could be a few clips to however many i select.
sometimes i have animated pictures that id like to render out to a single clip because i feel it will speed my timeline up a little. it gets a bit clunky when i have too many large pictures in the time line.

Have you seen the Timelines of major feature productions?

You would have to copy and paste into a new project to export.

Yeah this is sadly the only way, a feature that I miss from the earlier FCP.

We need this and round trip to Motion and Logic. Hell, just better interoperability features, period. I'm sure we'll see these in 10.1 or so.

As I agree with but is still not impossible, as mentioned before you can just have one timeline or "project" dedicated for your export. Just not as convenient.
