small glitch in audio on multicam edits

Hi all, Im getting a small glitch on the audio wherever I put an edit point using multi cam.

I have 12 angles one of which is a studio recorded stereo wav file which is selected as the main audio angle the other eleven files are selected as video only angles.

The original files are from a 5dmkll All the files are optimised, I have also tried proxy media but still have the problem.

Im using a 2009 mac pro quad core / 12 gbt ram / radeon graphics card 1gbt ram. Any ideas?

Many Thanks

I think Iv found out what was causing it.

The video was performed/mimed to a CD playing on a potable player, which must have been playing slightly fast because when I put the original wav recording in to the multi cam track I had to speed it up by 1% to match what had been recorded on to camera, Iv found if I don't speed the WAV track up the audio doesn't glitch but it is out of sync, it seems to be OK if I speed the video tracks up by 1% instead, the tracks sync back up again that way.

So it seems you can't alter the speed of the main audio track in a multi cam clip without the audio glitching a little bit on the edit points? is this just my experience? or has any one out there had this happen?

Cheers

Not sure what you mean by "glitch" on edit points.

Be sure the camera recorded audio at 48hKz, 16-bit.

Hi Ben, by glitch I mean a slight anomaly in the audio where I made a cut on the multi cam track, it maybe a very short volume dip? or a small jump? Im not sure, it is very slight but noticeable.

I didn't use the audio from the camera in the multi cam clip.

As I mention when I put the audio clip back to its original speed the slight 'glitch' (not sure what els to call it: ) disappears. Not sure if you would class this as a bug? or something to be expected if you alter the original speed of the main audio track used in a multi cam clip?

It seems to have stemmed from using the portable CD player which played the track slightly fast, so I won't be doing that again ; )

CD players usually play at a digitally set speed. I'd suspect the sample rate the camera recorded audio at. This is a typical symptom of that. And you really should use the master file of the song for the edit, yes, always.

I've had this issue too and it was caused by the synced audio file not being recorded at 48kHz.

FCPX will auto convert it for you, i've found, but I did get those pops for some odd reason. The workaround I used was to expand the audio on the first clip and drag just the audio out over the whole sequence. Then I select the other clips and turn the volume all the way down. No pops and all is good (actually quite a bit easier to mix as a whole with the 2nd ambient track of audio I added.)

Ben For the multi cam edit I did use the master audio wav file of the song.

I didn't use any audio from the camera so Im not sure how that could effect it in any way? may be Im missing something?

I think the canon 5dmkll does record at 48khz

Just to simplify. In this case it seems if I sped the master audio up by 1% in the multi cam clip it would very slightly glitch on the edit points and if I took the speed change off and played the master audio at its original speed it would play fine. Im curious, has any one tried this?

Thanks

fcpguru, I think I know what you mean about the pops and the 48khz etc but in this case its odd that the audio plays fine until I put the 1% speed change on it.

Its only the master audio that I used it the multi cam edit. I can work with it by speeding the video up 1% instead so its not such a problem now:)

Thanks
