Animated Route across map image was created by keithwhite
Hi folks,
I have to animate an explorer's route across a map.
What's the best way to do this. Motion?
(BTW many thanks for all your advice and support with my recent export freeze problem.
Another person had a similar problem and he was able to follow the steps I took
on this site to solve his problem.)

I know its probably not the most professional answer but iMovie has animated maps and globes. You enter the coordinates/places and it does it for you. Then export as a quicktime and bingo!
Unless of course your'e not a beginner like me. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the thought - only problem is I have to do the route over a specific vintage map of Europe.
Your suggestion reminds me of a program I've used called Road Trip Effect Pro - it's a bit cheesy but I might give it a go.

I'm personally very pleased with this plugin:
www.rippletraining.com/categories/templa...final-cut-pro-x.html
Yes, you can do all the same in Motion for free, but if you're not that good in it, this can get you very good results very quick. I especially like how you can magnify things, and put circles around it. Has been a huge benefit for some of the work we do. I could do it myself, but it never looked that good.

I didn't "find" it...
Yes, super mega easy to do for even first time beginners.
And if you add a Camera, you can use a Motion Path behavior, using the animated line you drew as the Path Source, which makes the camera follow the animated line as if in a helicopter. Call Outs won't do that in FCP X.
This is a GREAT way to start learning Motion. Which, BTW, is way easier to learn and use than most people think.
