OK, so anyone who knows what Lomography really is won't like the name but I thought this effect inspired by the Lomography look could be interesting to share:

Simon,
Very cool. I went to the Lomography link and read the About page. It also mentions "...and vignettes that framed the shot". Does the plug-in include the vignette effect? Not a big deal either way, but it seems to be part of the "look".
Thanks again for the great effects over the past year,
Dave

Hi Dave
Yes, you're right. I was being fairly loose with my interpretation as you'll have guessed! I'll certainly implement a vignette for the next build, thanks for the suggestion.

Simon,
I'm actually kind of excited by the prospect of this effect because a video I recently saw by Brad Bell done in FCPX, used photos in a very supped up Ken Burns kind of way that I thought was very cool. Aside from quick cuts and the built-in Ken Burns effect, he also used a vignette and some subtle film burns on top to create a very movie type version of photo use. Really, one of the best uses of photos I've come across. Here's the video-

I hope to try something like this for a music video in the near future.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave
Yes, that's very nice looking video (and a powerfully told story). I like the randomly fluctuating brightness - suits the story really well. He did a great job.
I've still got more work to do on Lomo and will probably try and get closer to the actual Lomo look.
Do also check out my Cross Process effect published this week here - it's another effect in the same vein as this one.

By the way, the "fluctuating brightness" you mentioned is just layered mixed back film burns. I did actually email Brad a couple of weeks ago and he was nice enough to share his processes with me.
Thanks again,
Dave

That looks very cool also. I downloaded it and will take a look later tonight.Simon Ubsdell wrote:
