Hi,

I have a new computer that I installed FCPX on but my third party effects aren't showing up in the Effects window in FCPX. I have them in the same folder as I did on my previous computer (Movies - Motion Templates, Effects, etc. ). Any suggestions?

did you just copy the extra stuff from the other Mac, or run Software Update to install it?

I didn't run software update....I just copied my plugins to the Movie folder as I did with my other computer.

If the same things are there in the same folder hierarchy exactly, and double check it, that's weird. Maybe try trashing FCP's preferences?

Yeah, i've been double checking for a few days now...lol. I bought the new macbook pro with retina and flash HD...was really looking forward to finishing a current project on it. I was thinking maybe it's the Flash Hard drive that might be an issue? Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Shut down restarted, repaired permissions etc?

Maybe create an FCP X Effect with Motion and see where it lands.

I did the restart repair permissions thing a bunch of times with no luck. I'll keep trying tomorrow when i get in front of my older computer....will update the thread. Thanks for the help guys.

If Repair Permissions doesn't work the first pass, that's not it. And it's rare that fixes anything.

But using "Preference Manager" to delete FCP X's permissions and see if that helps.

Did you try throwing the FCP X app into the Trash from the Applications folder, the Launching App Store and installing it again?

Success! Trashed preferences (again), Trashed FCPX, redownloaded....then reinstalled the Plugin and now it's showing up! Not sure why this worked this time, I did these things many times over the last few days and it didn't work. But anyway, thanks for all the help! Yes!
