Quicktime Error 108 when sharing to iPad from FCPX was created by dgwvideo
Just finished a local TV spot and wanted to share it on my iPad. Went to share menu, selected iPad, chose 2 pass and higher quality and hit publish. After 5 seconds, the share monitor reported that an error occurred (Quicktime -108). The info showed "FAILED".
I did manage to export full res media with no problems. Any ideas?

Trash your Preferences, then try Compressor Repair from Digital Rebellion.

I've been using FCPX for a year now without any issues. But I do read up on a lot of problems in case it happens to me down the line.
I've noticed that 'trashing preferences' seems to be the de-facto response to most problems.
Other than FCPX I have not really used my Mac for much else, and I'm still not clear on the inner working of OSX.
What are the preferences, where do you find them, and why do people always need to trash them?

Here's a pretty detailed writeup at Kenstone (also a site an FCP aficionado should know):

Or just use Digital Rebellion's "Preference Manager" which is safer and WAY faster, and free.
