Is there a way of having two shots on screen as in FCP 7 for color correction comparison?

No. What I like to do is put the playhead at the frame I want to reference and the skimmer at the frame I'm working on. Press the S key to toggle the skimmer off and on.

I sometimes use the Match Color function, then hit Cancel when I'm done.

It's very restricted but a few times I've used the Wipe" or "Swap" transitions to get a bit of a comparison of adjacent clips while making further adjustments, the waveform monitor still works but shows half and half.
Fingers crossed for the new dual monitors with this one.
