I drop all my material in the timeline and the I select the best shots, for me using the mouse scroll wheel to select material and the blade is much faster.

Use the skimmer, much faster than scrolling, and use Cmd-B to cut at the skimmer position.

usb overdrive. FWIW, you must have some software that configured your mouse in FCP 7, because it's the same L/R arrow keystrokes which is not what a scroll wheel defaults to,,,

Can't sleep? Try this: fcpxpert.net ;-)

Thanks Tom for the tips that it's what I am using, but the mouse scrolling give me a precise frame to cut.

Again thanks for taking time to help.

As Tom said, mouse works the same in 7 and X. Arrow keys are way more frame accurate than a mouse. Personally I use a Magic Trackpad. I hope to never touch a mouse again.

The more time you edit off your keyboard and not touch the mouse, the faster your edits will go.
