Using 21.5 iMac with 27" thunderbolt display? was created by staffe
I have a mid 2011 21.5" iMac 16gb ram, Im still happy with the performance of my mac but not the screen size. I was thinking of selling it and buy a 27" iMac but after looking at used 27" thunderbolt displays I started to think that that could be a good way to go until I need better performance.
And my question is, would it be possible to use a thunderbolt display as the "main" monitor and my 21.5 iMac as the secondary monitor and use the Viewer window in FCPX on the iMac and the timeline etc on the 27" display?
And when not running any apps etc the dock and main desktop would automatically show up on the thunderbolt display?

In OS X you have the option to arrange your desktop across display and move you dock and menu bar to any desktop you prefer.

Yes the settings will stay or be saved. It will only revert if the display is off it unplugged but as soon the display is back, it will revert to your custom settings.
