Hi there,

please chime in on the topic of consumer cameras.
I think I fell in love with what the Sony CX730V has to offer, from the new chip to the motion stabilization... and I'm a Sony fan.

Due to recent and ongoing headaches with "old" interlaced material, which I try to bring to the flatscreen TV with as little loss as possible, I think I should shoot progressive from now on.
Do you agree?

Current cameras offer 25p, which I think is good, but also 50p. Do you have any experience with that? Is it visibly better?

Aren't there problems with 60Hz displays and TV?

Confused, but "trigger happy" to buy a new camera,
and thankful for your opinions,
Alexander

Not familiar with your camera so I can't help there.
Progressive will offer better results for web use, computer playback and viewing on current LCD/Plasma displays. Old CRT tubes will playback interlaced material fine, but you'll find your computer display won't be as pleasant.
If you are playing back thru a DVD player, the DVD device itself will handle the interlacing so it should still look good on a widescreen LCD.
Shooting 25p gives a more filmic look, requires a bit more attention to how you do it and requires very, very slow panning.
Shooting in 50p will allow much smoother panning and is less critical to deal with, but will look like harsh video as opposed to film.
I'm in the US so it's 60HZ here....no problems with that frequency and displays with material shot on 60HZ cameras.

Creating history....one edit at a time !

How much do you want to spend? I've heard only good things about the Sony NEX-5
