Movavi-trouble (free trial period)

Ok, I have this friend who is totally newbie in the editing world. He has a little project he wants to share with his class. He chose Movavi as his editing program. He has only 7 days before the program shuts down. If you create the movie during the trial period, you will get a watermark, including some other things. He was planning on sharing the movie directly from the timeline. Sadly it it got more than 7 days before he could finish, so the only way he can share the movie with the class, is the buy Movavi.

I wanted to help him, so I downloaded Movavi, imported his clips, and bang. I got the thing up and running. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as it should. I can see the clips in the timeline, but I can't play it. I was planning on creating the movie in FCPX, but since I can't play the movie in Movavi, I'm not sure where the clips start or end.

So, is there any way to convert the Movavi project file to FCPX, or in some other way solve this problem (of course without paying). Just to make this clear, we are not thiefs, and we do not looking for a way to hack the program. He is a student, and he will most likely never edit any time soon, so paying is sort of not worth it at the moment.

It looks like the trial period follows the project file, since I can't edit it.

Can you render out the timeline and then later sequence the clips in the same order using FCPX?

As a practical matter how much time you willing to futz with it to avoid paying $40.00?

He's involved. You're involved. No telling how many others have their hands in the matter. If two people have spent 2 hours each trying to stick it to the Movadi Man then, congratulations, they've worked for $10.00 an hour and achieved nothing not to mention 7 days babysitting the edit. Any additional time screwing with it puts EVERYONE into an even deeper time/money deficit.

It all boils down to... If the final edit isn't worth $40 even for the guy who made it to get rid of a watermark it's most likely not worth the pedestrian viewers time to watch it. Go ahead and show it with the TRIAL VERSION watermark and let us know what $40 worth of humiliation feels like.

VTCmedia,

I tend to agree. Time is money.

Nothing on Movavi worked. Not even the timeline, so I wasn't able to copy the timeline into FCP. They ended up just creating the video with that watermark. It was ok.

Thanks for your reply and effort!
