Just curious how many of y'all change the client for time it takes to export/encode a video, and/or for uploading it to an FTP or other online service? How many of you don't include this time? I'm just really curious.

Not sure if this is useful info for you, Ben, but I routinely pay post houses (as a producer/client) for these services. Typically the export/encode time it takes to output a finished TV spot, for instance, is included in the hourly editing charge as this typically happens when a spot is completed. So that cost is rolled into the editing time. However, most of my spots are delivered to TV stations via online services and I pay between $85 and $200 (for 1 hour rush) per delivery/per station. As a point of reference I just received a delivery charge bill for a spot we finished last Friday that was expected to be on the air Monday. The delivery charges amounted to $10K. I've never seen an itemized charge for delivery to Vimeo or something like that when a spot was in production - say for client review or approval - since the post work was still on-going and hence everything was on the clock, billing-wise.
