What happened to Please & Thank You?

Hard to talk about 'tone' in a written media such as a board....
And esp. when English is not my native language.

And probably it's just me, getting older and grumpier…
But what happened to the two... three words 'Please' and 'Thank you'?

Some posters get here 'pages' of valueable advice - no Thanx, no -ty, no "That solved my question!" of whatever feedback.

Some posters downright 'demand' advice, "Tell me…", all it misses is all caps and an exclamation mark at the end!!
Or two ... Every waitress, every salesman can tell you: Act like this in my shop, and you're the last to get any service,-


Yes, 'new media' has it own rules. Rulez. And to staple a smiling emoji to some 140characters #textmsg is much more convenient than writing nice, full sentences.
But no time for manners, really? :S

I agree with you 100%.
The tone of a forum is so important.
I spend I guess 10% of my life in forums & I want it to be as pleasant an experience as possible.
Being busy is no excuse.
I guess the only thing to do is teach by example.
Perhaps even some basic forum guidelines/codes of conduct?

Maybe some people here come out of frustration and blow off steam?
As much as I love the internet…
Some times I hate it as well!!!
