Black Magic has released a newly minted version of Fusion 8 for Mac, Windows and Linux.
The single user version is free. The Fusion 8 Studio starts around $1,000.00USD
Be sure to read the system requirements. They include Yosemite or later, 8GB ram 16GB or greater recommended, a 2GB graphics card (this may be the issues for lots of folks)
Downloaded, reading through the manual. Looks interesting. Lots of features.

Hope folks try it and report on it here.
Hope this helps, Greg

Yes, I downloaded it September of last year, when the Mac public beta version first released. Unfortunately in all that time I've not gotten around to doing much with it. Too busy. Would like to hear what folks who actually use it think.

I downloaded it was well and then did nothing with it. So if anybody has tried it let us know. I wish Black Magic would hire the Ripple Training guys to make a years worth of episodes about it.

BlackMagic does have a series of video tutorials on their website here…

Spent an hour or so watching and I'm impressed. There is more on Vimeo.
I installed Fusion8 on my rMBP and fired it up. This is despite the claim it needs a 2GB GPU. Mine only has the GT650M with 1538MB vram. Seems to work so far. We'll see when I render out something. Very GPU driven.
Speaking of that, all the demos are on Windows machines. Fusion uses Open CL/GL a lot. Apple has not been that supportive of the latest versions of Open CL/GL so will be interesting to see how well it performs. No indication of using Apple's new Metal feature's. Since you can run it under Yosemite, doubt if it does.
I have used Blender for over a year, the Fusion 8 UI seems easier. There are some very interesting features in Fusion not in Blender. Still, you will need to spend time learning the app.
Planning on doing a small project on it soon. Have to finish a project I'm on now first.
Node based apps take a bit of getting used too. Blender is pretty finicky about how connect the nodes. Fusion seems to aid in this. You can attach more actions to a node in Fusion than Blender. Some connections are made automatically, nice.
Fusion features a nice split viewer/dual monitor ability. Nice.
Watch the videos, gives a good sense of the app and abilities.
Hope this helps, Greg
