That's great to hear, Justine. The funny thing is, I've heard so much negativity toward FCPX from folks on the Mac forum I frequent, with some going as far as to suggest that it has little or no place in a real, professional video editing environment.

To hear them tell it, the whole professional world hates FCPX, and adopted Premiere en masse when FCPX came out.

Speaking of which, do programs like Premiere have similar file management tools, or is this an area in which FCPX really distinguishes itself?

The greatest asset of FCPX is the trackless environment, no more clip collisions, Apple publicly have admitted that the original or 10.0 version of FCPX was not fit for use, a re-write and a relaunch with the 10.1 and now 10.2 versions, FCPX is well on it's way to being up there as the best.

Look folks are lazy, Premiere, Avid all use a stacked v1 v2 v3 etc a1 a2 a3 etc model, this is outdated and really not functional, Apple took a huge gamble by dumping this idea going from fcp7 to fcpx.

I dont use Premiere, or Avid, dont understand the logic behind rental only, fcpx is buy and own, you are not beholding to paying a ransom every month to have access to your business...That and you have no control over access, rental price increases, with fcpx, if it works, you never have to access the cloud.

I have no issues with the way FCPX handles data, you can tag in the finder, this comes in as tags, you can keyword on the fly, create curated smart collections off the keywords, FCPX can find single shots, group shots and create a collection for you on import.

FCPX is very much a work in progress, that does not mean it is crappy, people moaning are too laxy/stupid to see what a gem fcpx really is... I have used both 7 and x, and I have yet to hear of a long standing professional editor that was on 7, avid or premiere then go on to use fcpx, say they prefer the old to the new....

7 is history, and it will soon no longer work, now is the time to get to know X...

No, not that again ...

Just a single word ... ok, a few words:
Apple has sold more copies of FCPX, than any FC/pro versions combined before.

Hit or sh*t?

That a handful of movie-fabs in California prefer their established, integrated tools - sure, why not? But there's a completely new breed of 'professionals' doing their own stuff, have a look for instance at GoPros or Red Bulls YT-chanel ....

Was it Coppola saying, he foresees within a decade some houesewife gets an Oscar for her home-brewn movie...?

.... and that will not be done on Avid or such dinosaur ..............
