New camcorder - upgrade from Panasonic HDC-TM900 - the next step...

Hi,
I have I and Panasonic HDC-TM900 and use it for family and ski movies and so on - I need it to be solid and not to complicated - I also like to tak fotos and have an olde Nikon D300 and some lines. I combine the 900 whit may GoPro 4 black.
I like to go to the next step and by I new hardware - max $1300-1400.
Shal I go for a new camcorder or go for a DSLR ex?
I hope for som tips.
