Macs getting hit by Adware/Malware

Just thought I would warn folks that some nasty Adware Malware is going around.
Had a friend's Mac get infected and it was a nasty browser hijack.
Several versions going around.
Do not click on links telling you to download Flash on any web sites other than Adobe. This is one method to get infected.
Apple has posted instructions to help you get rid of at least a some of the buggers, but looks like this is a active area of Mac Attack.

Had to spend a lot of time getting rid of it for her. Would redirect links to bad sites.

Be careful out there.

Back in the day, all floppy disks came with a condom for safe downloads. Never insert floppy w/o one on :silly:

Well I think Adware/Malware is really heating up.
Now had to fix 2 Macs with Adware.
Nasty!

Now Oracle is installing Adware with the latest Java update. If you absolutely have to have Java (not the same as javascript) then make sure to uncheck the install "Ask.com" as default. This is directly from Oracle, not just some dodgy web pop up. Better yet don't install JAVA. Tell sites that require Java, no thanks!

This is a sad day to my way of thinking.

I had never had my browser hijacked like that (my daughter did click on one of those mac cleaner ads), anyway, this found it and trashed. Before I read about it, I tried deleting this, that and the other thing. Onyx, everything I had, but no luck. As I said, this performed a minor miracle. : >
