There's no secret that Rob is the master of flow motion. He is absolutely amazing! I have been trying to recreate what he has done, but with no luck.

I'm guessing he uses both hyper lapse and regular time lapse, and just zooming. But I can't make that work the way he does. I'm not even close. He uses After Effects, he says in a interview, but also FCP7. Rob might think that FCP comes to short since he need After Effects. Perhaps he uses AE for stabilization.

Any idea? I really want to learn this. Have been trying for a year, but I haven't have time to go all they way, so with practice I might come closer to his work.

It is mostly editing tricks, more than anything. Study very closely where he makes cut from one scene to another. Particularly when the plane lands and taxis to the gateway. There's a very clever cut there. That needs to be studied. No special effects, just the right cut at the right time.

Most of his film is that. Don't over complicate things, and try to replicate with what you have, not with what you want, you'll get much further.

Thank you, Ben!
Yep, that part I get. But I don't get the part where he is "flying". I'm guessing he uses a zoom lens and cropping when his lens won't get him any further. That part I can't replicate.

And also this part:

He says it's 13500px. Three cameras and merged the footage together?

Either helicopter shots, or drone shots for aerial. There's no zoom that will do that sort of distance, they have their limits.

As for the 4K anamorphic Dubai Creek, easily one camera. DSLR taking photographs, or GoPro would fit the bill for that. Some minor cropping, but easy enough. You can tell he used a fisheye lens, with the warping, but, that's typical of a GoPro. I'm guessing it was a DSLR. Remember a standard RAW photo is WAY larger than an HD video.

If you look at his other videos is doing the same do them: vimeo.com/robwhitworth
I can't find the interview, but he is stating that he's only using DSLR and lenes. No drones or helicopter.

I didn't mean that he is zooming with the lens, but when the zoom lens reached it's limit, he cropped the photo to make it look like he's zooming.

Yes, but Raw isn't 13500px?

RAW isn't a set number of pixels, the sensor in each camera determines that. HD formats do in fact dictate a specific number of pixels. And 4K can be from 8,294,400 pixels (3840x2160), up to 12,746,752 pixels (4096x3112). Not sure what the 135,000 pixel count signifies. My Canon 7D shoots 5184x3456 photos, which using an intervalometer, I can get amazing definition timelapse image-sequenese, which are larger than 4K. So shooting timelapse photos instead of video, yes, you can get larger images, that will allow for more scaling.

It's just the movement/editing that amazes me. Is he on burst mode(he's shooting with Nikon, so the RAW-buffer is an ocean better than Canon)? Does he the movement with scaling or is does he move the camera while shooting on burst mode?

Have sent him email months ago, but he's not answering. Don't think he wants to reveal his secret.

But preferable, I want to create something new...

You would not use burst mode for timelapse, you'd want to do just the opposite with an intervalometer.

In some cases you would want to use burst mode.
