FCPX Media Asset Management System in the future?

Today I was looking around for a low cost media asset management system for the videos we make and it came across my mind that FCPX is a MAM in itself. As Apple created heavy use of metadata in FCPX, would Apple be looking to create a MAM just for FCPX?

I mean, Apple does have a lot of experience with Filemaker. Could Filemaker be adapted to FCPX to use as a Media Asset Management System? Just a thought

Hey James,

I think you are making a very logical assessment. I don't know if Filemaker will be involved in this, but FCP X surely has a very solid basis onto which a deeper asset management structure can be developed.

What other NLE can act as a Media Asset Management System and use metadata like FCPX? Not may.
I threw this thought out because, as we all know, FCPX acts like a mini MAMS! There is a program engine inside FCPX that tracks the metadata very well. I wonder if this program engine could become independent and external and made to work with FCPX's built-in metadata management system.
Filemaker may not be the best choice for this.

Many companies are taking a much harder look at FCPX and they would want a way to keep track of the media they already have and will add. This would make FCPX more of a sweet point for a company looking at FCPX.

Just think how a production house using 10 seats of FCPX and a shared FCPX Media Asset Management System on the network. I know schools here would jump on it.
