Science of the Silver Screen, History, Writing, FX

I like to listen to Podcasts as I work outside. Science Friday with Ira Flatow did a 2 hour special about the "Science of the Silver Screen. I liked the podcast but wanted to see the clips so I watched the presentation that was done live at Caltech in Pasadena.
Interesting show and speakers. Included history of special effects, the science behind the writing, CGI and lighting techniques including for Avatar and other movies.
Interesting to me so thought I'd share. You can skip ahead to the 10 minute mark where it really starts.

As an aside, when doing a video of live event, stage/sound techs should watch the mic placements so not to be blocking faces. Really would have been better to use lav mics. Could also use better web editing to cut the 1 minute long breaks.

Hope this helps, Greg

Yes, I heard that show when it was originally broadcast. Great show, great topic, really well done.
